An historic Hollywood hotel turned apartment building houses a supernatural evil. It's been subdued for decades - but when renovations start, a maniac begins killing the tenants in horrible ways. Tobe Hooper`s surprisingly well done slasher is not so much a remake of the grindhouse classic as it is a supernatural retelling with a slew of bloody murders and plenty of atmosphere.
